SPD seizes P181-M illegal drugs, arrests 104 suspects in weeklong ops


MANILA – The Southern Police District (SPD) seized PHP181 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 104 suspects during operations from April 6 to 12.

The arrests and seizures were products of 79 anti-drug operations, according to the SPD, which covers the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and the municipality of Pateros.

Of the 104 arrested suspects, 98 were classified as street-level individuals and six as high-value individuals.

"Hindi kami uurong at lalong hindi titigil. Mas paiigtingin pa namin ang operasyon laban sa iligal na droga —target namin ang buong network, mula street level hanggang sa mga high-value targets (We will not back down and we will not stop. We will intensify our operations against illegal drugs —we will target the entire network, from street level to high-value targets)," acting SPD chief Col. Glenn Oliver Cinco said in a statement Tuesday.

Seized during the operations were around 14,277.67 grams of shabu; 44.07 grams of marijuana; 1.3 grams of kush; and 41,421.36 milliliters of liquid shabu with the total estimated value at PHP181,567,642.

QCPD ops

In a separate statement, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said 163 persons facing various offenses were arrested in a series of operations from April 5 to 11.

Among those arrested were 74 drug suspects and 49 wanted persons, the QCPD said.

Some PHP1.6 million worth of illegal drugs were also seized in 74 operations conducted during the period, while PHP8,969 in bet money was confiscated from gambling suspects nabbed in 22 operations.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio said complaints have already been filed against some of the suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office. (PNA)
