Shear line, ‘amihan’ to continue to dampen parts of PH

MANILA – The shear line and the northeast monsoon or "amihan" will continue to affect many parts of the country, the weather bureau said on Tuesday.

In its 4 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the Visayas, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Dinagat Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

PAGASA said Occidental Mindoro, Cebu, Leyte, Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, Sorsogon, and Biliran will experience 50 mm. to 100 mm. of rainfall.

It warned that localized flooding is possible mainly in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, Central Luzon, the rest of the Bicol Region, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with light rains caused by the amihan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon.

The rest of Mindanao will have generally fair weather, except for isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau, as of 5 a.m., issued a gale warning over the northern coast of Quezon, including the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, the northern coast of Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, the eastern coast of Albay, the eastern coast of Sorsogon, the northern and eastern coasts of Northern Samar, and the eastern coast of Eastern Samar. (PNA)
