DAVAO CITY – Police and anti-narcotics agents in the Davao Region confiscated more than PHP6.5 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested multiple suspects in operations from Feb. 16 to 17, authorities bared Tuesday.
In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office 11 (PDEA-11), said its agents and personnel of the Tagum City Police Office arrested a high-value target in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Canocotan around 10:54 a.m. on Feb. 17.
Suspect "Mata," 34, was caught selling 2.5 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP17,500 to an undercover agent. A follow-up search yielded an additional 612.5 grams of shabu valued at PHP4,287,500, bringing the total haul from the operation to approximately PHP4.3 million.
The suspect faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete, Police Regional Office-11 (PRO-11) director, said combined operations from Feb. 16 to 17 resulted in the seizure of 326.9 grams of shabu and four grams of marijuana worth PHP2.2 million from earlier-reported operations.
Rosete said the combined two-day operations generated total drug confiscations exceeding PHP6.5 million.
“These results reflect the hard work of our personnel on the ground and the strong support from the community. PRO-11 remains steadfast in delivering quality police service – fast, honest and felt by the people,” Rosete said in a Facebook post.
In the same period, anti-illegal gambling operations netted eight arrests and PHP1,485 in bet money.
Operations against loose firearms led to one arrest and the seizure or surrender of nine firearms. Five wanted individuals were also arrested.
Rosete said the accomplishments reinforce PRO-11's commitment to public safety. (PNA)
