MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will join other government security agencies in ensuring safety and providing emergency response during the planned “Trillion Pesos Movement” rally to be held at the People Power Monument in Quezon City on Wednesday.
In a message, PCG press officer Joy Gumatay said a total of 500 personnel, 10 floating assets and eight land vehicles will be deployed for the event.
“[These are] composed of deployed and on standby for additional augmentation,” Gumatay said.
In a statement, PCG commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan said the deployment is meant to ensure public safety, maritime security and emergency readiness in their areas of jurisdiction.
“In close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other government agencies, we will help maintain peace and order while fully respecting lawful assemblies,” Gavan said.
He emphasized that the PCG supports and upholds the Filipino constitutional right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
“The PCG remains strictly apolitical. Our men and women will continue to uphold the Constitution, respect the chain of command, and serve with professionalism, discipline, and integrity,” he said.
He said the PCG’s role in the event is “to protect life, preserve stability, and respond swiftly to emergencies.”
“We stand ready—always in service of the Filipino people and in defense of our democratic institutions,” he said. (PNA)
