PBBM to stress rule of law, peaceful dispute settlement at UN

NEW YORK CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday (New York time) said he would underscore the importance of the rule of law and the peaceful settlement of disputes when he addresses member states of the United Nations (UN) during his two-day working visit here.

In a statement, Marcos said the Philippines has long advocated for multilateral cooperation grounded in international law.

He emphasized the country’s consistent support for the peaceful resolution of disputes and adherence to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

“The Philippines has demonstrated that we are a trusted partner, innovative pathfinder and committed peacemaker that other countries in the United Nations can confidently work with,” Marcos said.

Marcos said the Philippines has been active in peacekeeping missions and international cooperation aimed at maintaining global peace and stability.

He said he would encourage restraint among nations as tensions and armed conflict continue to unfold in various parts of the world.

“I will call for restraint, dialogue and respect for international law,” Marcos said. (PNA)
