Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus grants over P1B in member discounts

MANILA – The Pag-IBIG Fund announced on Wednesday that its Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus program has surpassed PHP1 billion in total discounts granted to members as the initiative expanded to 507 partner establishments nationwide.

In a news release, the Fund noted that the program was launched in 2014 to provide members access to discounts and special offers from partner merchants.

In 2019, it introduced the upgraded Loyalty Card Plus, which added cash card features through partner banks Asia United Bank and UnionBank of the Philippines, enabling members to receive loan proceeds and access basic banking services.

Since then, the program has grown into one of Pag-IBIG Fund’s most practical benefits, helping members save on food, medicines, transportation, housing-related purchases and other essential expenses.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the program highlights the value of collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“The Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus is a prime example of how public-private partnerships can work to provide practical and relevant daily benefits to Filipino workers,” said Aliling, who also chairs the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees.

“Especially at a time of global uncertainty, when every peso counts, this program helps our members make the most of their hard-earned income,” he added.

Aliling said the initiative also supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure government programs deliver meaningful and timely assistance to Filipinos.

Pag-IBIG Fund said the program now covers 114 partners under food, restaurants and groceries; five under fuel and transportation; 189 under health and medicine; and 20 housing-related establishments, among others serving members’ various needs.

Across the country, partner establishments include 162 in the National Capital Region, 155 in the rest of Luzon, 55 in the Visayas and 85 in Mindanao.

To date, the program has recorded 30.66 million discounted transactions, while total Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card and Loyalty Card Plus issuance has reached over 15.17 million.

Cumulative discounts granted to members have reached PHP1,005,583,149 the agency said.

Meanwhile, Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Marilene Acosta said the program will soon enter a new phase with the rollout of the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus Digital within the year.

“We thank our partner establishments and bank partners for helping us turn our card program into a meaningful everyday benefit for our members,” Acosta said.

She added that the digital version, alongside the physical card, will make the program more accessible, secure and convenient for members.

The initiative also supports the government’s efforts to promote financial inclusion by bringing practical financial services and everyday savings closer to Filipino workers, she said. (PNA)
