MANILA – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday said its units and other counterpart agencies have conducted a series of "rapid damage assessment and needs analysis" (RDANA) missions aimed at assessing the impact of Tropical Storm Basyang (international name Penha) in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
In a Facebook post, the OCD said the RDANA missions took place from Feb. 7 to 10.
"Two multi-agency teams composed of personnel from OCD, DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways), DHSUD (Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development) DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government), DEPDev (Department of Economy, Planning and Development), DOH (Department of Health), City Health Office (CHO) Iligan, DA (Department of Agriculture), BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) and DTI (Department of Trade and Industries) together with partner local government units, conducted field validation across affected barangays," it added.
Aside from these, there were also RDANA augmentation teams from Bacolod, Kapatagan, Maigo, Sapad, and Sultan Naga Dimaporo, who supported ground assessment and data validation.
Initial findings recorded 16,335 affected families or 66,494 individuals. A total of 1,818 houses were damaged, including 427 totally and 1,391 partially damaged units.
Around 750 families, or 2,934 individuals, were displaced.
The incident also resulted in five reported deaths and 157 injured, along with significant damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and critical lifelines.
Field assessments identified urgent requirements for food assistance, hygiene and sleeping kits, safe drinking water and water containers, shelter repair materials, restoration of electricity and water supply, and additional operational equipment for local responders.
The RDANA results will guide relief augmentation, resource mobilization, and the formulation of Iligan City’s rehabilitation and recovery plan. (PNA)
