New AirAsia PH chief to prioritize stability via operational growth

MANILA – The new chief of low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines vows for sustained operational stability, and expansion plans that include strengthening hubs, particularly in Cebu province, and expanding destinations.

Changes and improvements will come under new president and general manager Anna Victoria Lu, whose appointment was announced in a press statement Tuesday.

“As I step into this role, the immediate priority is continuing operational stability that the team has worked hard to achieve, especially as global pressures such as the ongoing Middle East crisis and its impact on fuel costs continue to challenge the aviation industry,” Lu said.

To date, the airline operates in 26 destinations, including 14 domestic and 12 international routes.

“Our pursuit of enabling more Filipinos to fly and access travel is rooted in AirAsia’s DNA of democratizing air travel. With this approach, and drawing from my experience in both the private and public sectors, I am deeply committed to expanding our reach and exploring new horizons as we move forward," Lu said.

She added that the airline also aims to rebuild brand confidence, reassuring passengers that they can rely on it and trust the experience it provides.

AirAsia Philippines reported a 14-percent annual increase in passengers flown in the first quarter of 2026. (PNA)
