Korea eases visa application requirements for Filipinos

MANILA – The Korean Embassy has waived the requirement to submit three months’ worth of bank statements for visa applications.

The Korean Visa Application Center (KVAC) Philippines said the move aims to make the process more convenient and encourage visits to Korea.

“For all types of required documents, the submission of three months of bank statements will be waived, [effective February 20, 2026],” it said Thursday.

Student applicants may submit either the original School Certificate or a copy of their Student ID.

The requirement to submit an explanation letter for employment-related documents is also waived if no landline number is indicated or if the document bears an electronic signature.

“As long as other reachable contact information (email address or mobile phone number) is provided, the document will be accepted,” KVAC said.

Common documents such as invitation letters, family relationship papers and company-related documents for multiple applicants must be submitted in a single copy and attached to the representative applicant’s file.

KVAC opened in 2023 to meet growing visa demand amid a surge in travel between South Korea and the Philippines.

Located at the Brittany Hotel in Taguig City, KVAC accepts applications for all visa types and releases visas and passports reviewed by the Korean Embassy in Manila. (PNA)
