5 Pangasinan hospitals to get P4-M equipment from DOH

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Five of the provincial government-run hospitals in Pangasinan will receive PHP4 million worth of equipment under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region (DOH-CHD-1).

In a phone interview on Wednesday, provincial health office chief Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman said the beneficiaries are the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, Western Pangasinan District, Bayambang District Hospital, Mangatarem District Hospital, and Manaoag Community Hospital.

De Guzman said Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, Western Pangasinan District Hospital, and Bayambang District Hospital will each get a tabletop sterilizer worth PHP33,000, while Mangatarem District Hospital will receive a set of generators costing PHP3.6 million.

The Manaoag Community Hospital will get 10 units of mechanical bed with mattress worth PHP244,200, two units of minor instrument set worth PHP13,000, laryngoscope set worth PHP21,000, and emergency cart costing PHP27,200, she added.

The equipment can be used primarily and effectively by the province to cater and respond immediately to the health necessities of the people, especially in times of calamities and emergencies, as stated in a resolution of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan authorizing Governor Amado Espino III to sign the deeds of donation on behalf of the province.

“The DOH is the principal agency of the government which consistently contributes to the upgrading of medical and health care facilities and has manifested its desire to further augment its support to the provincial government of Pangasinan’s health care program through the HEEP,” the resolution stated.

HFEP serves as the national government’s vehicle by which public health care facilities receive assistance for infrastructure improvement and equipment upgrades. (PNA)
